There are an array of challenges that can make or break a business. Those mountains can be stumbling blocks or stepping stones, just depends on how you use them. Although the mountain may get a little harder to climb, it's great to be inspired by some businesses that bounce back from rough times.
No matter the setback, businesses can come back from ruin. CNN reported several companies that did what appeared to be impossible through various means, and are better from it. Inspired by tragic abuse of his grandmother, Geoff Scott, owner of Friends of the Family Home Health Care, started his in-home care company but 4 of their top-paying clients passed away. This changed the course of their business, eventually concluding selling was their sole option. |
"As I was sitting down with my competitors to sell off the rest of my business, I realized that I had to keep going. My grandmother didn't go through what she did for nothing", said Geoff. He hired a top office manager, applied himself in marketing and networking, and now has $1.4 million in revenue.
Victoria Grace and her partner started Kaylim Career Institute, which provided RN training programs in Atlanta, Georgia. RN's were in high demand and their company helped fill a pressing need. The company generated $1 million in revenue and opened a second location, however, their success was short-lived. A new Georgia law enacted RN licensing could only be obtained from a state school. Their business had to shut down. They chose to bounce back. The owners created a new business model and started the RN Bridge Program, helping nontraditional students earn their degree from home via online. Their new business is even more successful and they now have a national market.
